Other than our usual terrific buffet, we had waited for the announcement of the $500 scholarship winner.  Joey Lewis, the Chairman of the committee announced that this year's winner was Hannah Jones. Hannah is attending Premier Cosmetology Academy of Johnson City.  She is shown in the above photo with her family members:  Left to Right, father Neil Jones, Hannah Jones, Great Grandmother Evelyn Edwards, Sister Danielle Jones, and mother Tina Jones.  Neil and Tina joined the club during the meeting.

Other important items are:  Centennial Celebration at the Bramble on Wednesday, October 4th from 1 to 3 PM.  Southern Potteries, Inc. started their operation 100 years ago in 1917.  The City is planning a Blue Ridge Pottery fountain to be located downtown and are designing banners.  Gary Smith of Erwin Pottery designed a Betsy wall pocket to commemorate the 100th anniversary.  If you want to pre-order yours, just call Angel Duncan at 220-9096.  We will only have a few left over for the October show.  We will have a hamburger and hot dog cookout at the Sr. Center for our July 3rd meeting. A Blue Ridge Pottery set will be given away during our October show donated by Joey Lewis and Glenna Lewis.  A pattern has not yet been determined.

Note:  John Hashe notified us that his store called Main Street Mall has been sold.  It is now closed and the new owner is thinking about opening a restaurant.
