Welcome to the Blue Ridge Pottery Club online. THE 29TH ANNUAL BLUE RIDGE POTTERY SHOW AND
SALE
October 2 - 4, 2008
Officers
The new officers are President - Faye Bailey, Vice President - Joey Lewis, Recording Secretary - Barbara Campbell, Treasurer - Raymond
Bailey and Show Coordinator - Larna Smith. Our President Faye
Bailey brings years of experience of planning the Apple Festival for the Unicoi
Chamber of Commerce. Most of all, she brings a passion for Blue Ridge Pottery!
Her husband Raymond Bailey is our new treasurer. He is a native of Erwin and is
an avid supporter of her and all her endeavors. The Erwin Record wrote a
wonderful story about their family, their passion for this great pottery and
their vision for the Club in the April 24, 2007 edition. Our
secretary Barbara Campbell and her late husband Billy Jack Campbell have
collected and sold Blue Ridge Pottery for many years. Barbara and Billy Jack
had a booth in the Hanging Elephant and later were partners with Maxie English
in their Blue Ridge shop. Our other officers - Joey Lewis and
Larna Smith - are well known as avid Blue Ridge dealers and collectors. A
message from our President Dear
Fellow Blue Ridge Collectors: Please let
me introduce myself, my name is Faye Bailey and I am the new President of the
Blue Ridge Pottery Club in Erwin, TN. It is such an exciting time for our club,
as this is the 50th Anniversary of the closing of the pottery. We are making
plans to celebrate at our pottery show to be held in October, in conjunction
with the annual Apple Festival, which brings in almost 100,000 visitors to our
hometown. I have been a collector since
1987. My husband Raymond had been transferred to Waycross Georgia, with the
railroad, when my Mom became ill. We closed her apartment and friends packed
the dishes from the hutch for me. Later as I was digging in my attic, I thought
"OK, what's in the box?" To my delight, I found my first Blue Ridge
plate and the pattern was "Paper Rose". It is still displayed in my
dining room in memory of my Mom. I didn't even know she collected Blue Ridge. My
love for Blue Ridge has also inspired our daughter Lisa and our son-in-law
Mike, to begin their own collection. Recently, Mike found Lisa a set of mini
bud vases....and shall I tell you the pattern name..."Lisa!" She was
so excited! My father-in-law worked
at the pottery in the shipping department and we were able to talk with him
about his work before he passed away in 2003. I
worked for the Chamber of Commerce for several years. Our visitors would come
in for information on Blue Ridge, I thought I was in heaven reminiscing about
my favorite subject. Thanks for
allowing me to tell you about my Blue Ridge memories and I look forward to
meeting each of you at the show in October. Your
Blue Ridge Friend, Faye L. Bailey Please click on the
various links above for more information about the annual show and sale,
upcoming events, our new officers and other great information.
